Fundamentals of Youth Strength Training
FYST is a teaching centered strength training program based on the unique sciences associated with youth physical development. Sessions will focus on learning sound technique, developing a strong healthy posture, improving balance and body awareness, increasing coordination and mobility, and more.
WHAT TO EXPECT
All participants will be closely monitored & instructed as they progress through a wide variety of exercises that will prepare them for lifting at school or for fun. Workouts include multi-joint exercises involving bodyweight, PVC pipe, medicine balls, bands, TRX bands, stability balls, & other light weight implements. All progressions in intensity & volume will be strictly proficiency based and limited to be safe & appropriate for youth.
IS FYST SAFE FOR KIDS?
Strength training is safe & highly beneficial for kids...when done appropriately under the guidance of knowledgable & attentive coaches. The goal of FYST is to develop proper technique & to strengthen postural and stabilizer muscles to prepare youth for a safe, long future of strength training. Older participants may be allowed to progress to increased weight but only once they have reached an appropriate level of proficiency & have the postural control to do so safely.
