YMCA Swim Lessons-Equiping swimmers of all ages
Swimming Lessons at the YMCA equip swimmers of all skill levels with the tools they need to be confident in and around water so they don’t lose out on the health benefits of exercise, the opportunities to bond with family and friends and the sense of accomplishment that comes from learning new skills. Our philosophy is that each swimmer progresses at their own pace. Through positive reinforcement, practice and patience, students learn water-safe swimming skills while having fun. Our lessons develop aquatic readiness, develop safe water habits, engage in underwater exploration, and teach children important water safety skills.
Which Swim lessons are right for you?
The YMCA provides swimming lessons to swimmers of all ages and skill levels. We also offer private lessons, semi-private lessons so we can all safely enjoy the pleasures of an aquatic environment. We offer small class sizes, year round lessons, warm water lessons for younger children, certified swim instructors, and more.

Parent And Child Swim Lessons
Parent & Child classes are designed for an adult (not necessarily a parent), and a child under 4 years of age to participate together to learn and practice fundamental swimming and water safety skills. Students are acclimated to the water through a series of games, activities, and skills led by an instructor. Parents learn important holding and support techniques to assist their young swimmers along with basic water safety for young children. Like all of our American Red Cross swimming lessons, these classes are led by certified Water Safety Instructors, with sessions designed for the skill and cognitive development of individual students.

School age and young teen swim lessons
Our Learn-to-Swim program is based on a logical, six-level progression that helps school age and young teens develop their water safety, survival and swimming skills. It is designed to give participants a positive learning experience. For every level of Learn-to-Swim, our instructors follow a plan to introduce new swimming and water safety skills and build on previously learned skills. Each class is loaded with fun, engaging, and challenging activities that motivate children to want to perform and learn to swim.

Adult swim lessons
Adult Swim courses are intended for older teens and adults wishing to improve their knowledge of, and skill in, the water. Adult Swim offers three options to meet specific needs and interests—Learning the Basics, Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes, and Swimming for Fitness.
