REOPENING FACILITY GUIDLINES

Y Members, Welcome Back!

The Forest City Family YMCA has been serving the North Iowa Community for 33 years in a Caring, Honest, Respectful and Responsible manner. As we reopen our doors to the community, we CARE about member and staff safety. We will be HONEST with you about decisions we make in cooperation with Federal, State and Local leaders, YMCAs across Iowa and the YMCA of the USA. We RESPECT your decision as to how you want to continue to engage with your YMCA and your community. And we will be RESPONSIBLE in our delivery of programs and services for the health of your Spirit, Mind and Body.

Under the guidance of the Governor, City of Forest City Mayor, Winnebago County Public Health Department, and the CDC, guidelines for reopening will be as follows:

FACILITIES AND PROGRAMS:

  • The Forest City Family YMCA facility is open
  • Members will need to wear a face covering in all common areas of the facility (updated August 24th)
  • EFFECTIVE SEPT 1, 2020:  Building hours will be 5:30 am to 9:00 pm Monday-Thursday;  Fridays 5:30 am to 8:00 pm, Saturdays 7:00 am to 5:00 pm;  Sundays 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
  • Members, Nationwide members and day pass guests are now welcome to use the facility.
  • Youth in 4th grade may be in the facility unaccompanied Monday-Friday from 3:00-6:00 pm (updated August 24th)
  • Youth in 5th grade and above may be in the facility unaccompanied during normal building hours (updated August 24th
  • Social distancing of 6 feet between members will be implemented and enforced
  • Members should bring their own water; bottle filling station is available in the lobby;  all other drinking fountains will be taped off
  • Mens, Womens and the Individual change locker room will be open;, Girls and Boys locker rooms will remain closed
  • Pool is open for lap swimming and limited small group recreational swimming;  Call to make a reservation.  Drop-in lap and recreational swimming is available, but reserved times will take priority. (updated Sept 1)
  • Whirlpool and sauna will remain closed until further notice
  • Towels will not be available to rent at this time
  • Racquetball Courts are open (updated Sept 1)
  • Drop-in Kid Kare will remain closed until further notice
  • Outside group meetings/rentals are now allowed (birthday parties, community meetings, etc.)
  • You can now play pick-up basketball games.  You still need to bring your own ball and CLEAN CARRY IN SHOES (updated September 1)
  • Limited Group Exercise Classes will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis utilizing social distancing guidelines and maintaining 6 feet between members (see gym schedule)
  • Pickle ball courts will be available, but limited to 4 per court (see gym schedule)
  • The Game room is now the home of the Y's Kids Club.  The ping pong table, pool table and vending machine have been moved to the multi-purpose room

CARDIO ROOM/STRENGTH TRAINING ROOMS:

  • Rooms have been reorganized to encourage social distancing;  cardio equipment is available in the cardio room, game room and group fitness room;  dumbbells/kettle bells have been moved to the game room
  • Each room will have maximum capacity posted;  please be patient if the rooms are filled to capacity
  • All equipment must cleaned by member before and after use. (treadmills, weights, etc.) Room attendants will be on hand to monitor cleaning.
  • Use the spray bottles provided in each workout area to clean equipment after use.  The Y uses Sanifect to clean and sanitize equipment before and after each use;  sanitizing will take a Spray-Wipe-Spray approach as the germ fighting happens when the sanitizer remains wet for 10 minutes.  Room attendants will monitor room capacities.

    • Group fitness room:  10
  • Guidance from the Department of Health and CDC is always changing and we ask for your flexibility as guidelines, room capacity, etc may change quickly and without notice.

POOL

Effective Sept 1, pool is open for lap swimming, individual workouts and limited small group recreational swimming.  Reservations strongly encouraged and can be made by call the front desk.

  • Whirlpool and sauna remain closed
  • Pool hours are M-TH 5:30 am to 8:45 pm;  Friday 5:30 am to 7:45 pm;  Saturday 7:00 am to 4:45 pm and Sunday 1-4:45 pm
  • 4 lap lanes available from 5:30 am to 4:30 pm;  1 lap lane available 5:30 pm to close
  • Small group recreational swimming is available M-F 5:30 pm to close;  Saturday afternoons and Sundays.  Call the Y to reserve your time.
  • Swim time is limited to 1 hour
  • May sign up a week at a time, one spot per day
  • Reservations for the next week start Friday mornings
  • Walk-ins are welcome if a lane/spot is available
  • Mens/Womens and Individual change/shower area is open to use

GYM SCHEDULE/GUIDELINES:

FRIDAY

  • Please bring your own basketball.  We will NOT have basketballs available.
  • Clean carry in shoes are required.

MEMBER ACCESS:

  • All members will be asked to wash hands or utilize hand sanitizer immediately upon entry
  • We kindly ask you to observe the admittance information posted at the front door
  • The Y is open to members, Nationwide members and day pass guests.
  • Please use touch-less scan-in using your phone or key fob scan card to limit contact between members and staff; announce name to front desk if you don’t have or don’t remember your key fob number
  • Coffee Bar and lobby seating will be closed

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS:

  • All staff members will be required to take their temperature prior to starting their shift; face masks for staff are optional, but will be available to use.
  • The Forest City Family YMCA uses Sanifect to clean and sanitize equipment before and after each use; sanitizing will take a Spray-Wipe-Spray approach as the germ fighting happens when the sanitizer remains wet for 10 minutes.
  • Front desk staff will clean and sanitize front desk area frequently
  • All equipment must cleaned by member before and after use. (treadmills, weights, etc.) Room attendants will be on hand to monitor cleaning.
  • Additional staff will be scheduled whose sole responsibility is to assist in cleaning and sanitizing locker room and shared spaces as well as contact points like door knobs, handles and railings
  • HVAC filters have been replaced and upgraded in all facilities
  • Nightly deep-cleaning and sanitizing will continue
