WHAT'S HAPPENING AT YOUR Y!
An update from us on COVID-19
To our Forest City Family YMCA members and community:
The global pandemic that is COVID-19 has been an unprecedented test to our nation, state, and community. We are all dealing with abrupt changes and uncertainty that has no doubt been a challenge to us all. It has never been more critical to stay together as we follow the guidelines from officials to keep each other and our community healthy.
It was our hope to be able to open our doors on April 1, but based on Governor Kim Reynolds recent COVID-19 Declaration we will not be able to open as scheduled. With announcements coming hourly, we can not give an exact date that the Y will re-open. We will keep you informed.
At the Forest City Family YMCA, everything we do is guided by our commitment to social responsibility, healthy living, and youth development. We’re so much more than a gym. Here at the Y, you’re much more than just a facility member. At our YMCA, you’re a part of our purpose, you're a partner in strengthening the foundations of our community, and part of our family.
For more than 32 years, our Y has always been there to help all people in the community when times were tough and as I share with you all in the below important message, today is no different. You can help be a part of this.
STAND WITH US - a message from Executive Director Bruce Mielke.
In recent weeks, we've all felt the change in our daily lives. Simple things like going to work or school, coffee with friends, and even your daily exercise routine look different. It may look a bit different, but one thing has stayed the same... The Y's commitment to Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
Our child care centers are open and active. There are spots available for the children of those who must work.
We are now offering an incredible array of videos and exercise content from our locally driven and produced app called Forest City Y Virtual Fitness to a variety of online classes posted by Y staff and made available through the Forest City Y's Facebook page.
For our seniors, who are especially vulnerable right now, we will be reaching out to them doing wellness checks on the phone making sure they don't slip into social isolation.
Stronger Together. Stand With Us
FOR THOSE THAT PAY MONTHLY VIA BANK DRAFT
We ask that you stand with us during this time and to lend a helping hand to the community. Your membership helps support our efforts and ensures our Y remains strong and poised to meet the critical needs in our community during this unprecedented time.
At this time, we want to offer you options regarding your membership:
Keep your membership active.
Keeping your membership active will help us stay focused on our efforts to support our community when called upon. If you choose to keep your membership active, please know how grateful we are for your willingness and partnership. You don’t need to take any action to retain this status.
Convert your membership to a donation.
If you wish, you can choose to have your membership dues converted to an ongoing, tax-deductible donation during our temporary suspension of facility access and programs. We’ll continue to draft this payment monthly. When we return to normal operations, your donation will end and we’ll convert you back to a regular membership.
Place your membership on hold.
You can place your membership on hold at no cost during our temporary suspension of services, we understand. During these times, we want you to make the best decision for you and your family. Once we reopen, your membership will resume.
Please email email@example.com if you choose to convert your membership to a donation or place your membership on hold.
On behalf of everyone in the community counting on our Y in the weeks ahead, thank you for your strong consideration to stand with us. Our community needs you.
